A differential grasshopper, Melanopplus differentialis, on a house in Brick, New Jersey, USA. This species of grasshopper reaches a length of 30-45 mm and are found throughout North America. They are a common, nonmigrating but very destructive grasshopper found feeding on grass and forage crops.
