All of the underwater shots in the screen saver were made using a single lens reflex Canon F-1 or Nikon N-90 camera in an Ikelite, Aquatica or Nexus housing. I used Kodachrome 200 speed film, a 16mm or 20mm lens, a lens opening of f5.6 to f8, shutter speeds of 1/4 to 1/8 second and one or two wide angle Ikelite flashes set on one quarter power. The long shutter speed allowed me to use the available light for true wide angle perspectives in the low light levels found off the New Jersey coast. Screen Saver #2: JELLYFISH & OTHER PLANKTERSThe screen saver contains 71 images of jellyfish, plankters, pteropods, and a marine snail that looks like a jellyfish. All the images were taken off the coast of New Jersey except for the Portuguese Man-Of-War which was photographed off North Carolina. Included species are the Lion's Mane Jellyfish, Purple Jellyfish, Mushroom Cap Jellyfish, Portuguese Man-Of-War Jellyfish, Leidy's and Ovate Comb Jellies, Many-Ribbed Hydromedusae, Horned Salp, Naked Sea Butterfly, Plankton Worm, Straight Needle Pteropod and the Atlantic Corolla. I have seen and photographed turtles in my home state of New Jersey, off the coast of North Carolina and in the Bahamas. This screen saver has some great turtle images including images of a leatherback turtle. Most divers will never be in the water with a leatherback. I was one of the fortunate ones. It was not only fortunate for me, it was also for the turtle. To find out more about that encounter, visit my special encounters page. Screen Saver #5: Manatee2My original manatee screen saver has been so popular that I decided to offer another one. This one has all new images that were all taken with a digital camera. The images taken of the manatee on it's back and doing acrobatics were taken holding my underwater housing with one hand while I scratched the manatee with my other hand.
