Nikon 12-24mm f4 Zoom Lens

In December of 2003, I purchased a Nikon 12-24mm f4 zoom lens. I was hoping that this would give me the true wide angle lens that I needed for underwater work. I was not able to try it until January of 2004 on a three day visit to Crystal River, Florida and the West Indian manatees.

First Impression : I was very happy with the lens. It focused quickly and appeared to be very sharp. It fit into my housing with the same dome port and extension that I used for my Nikon 17-35mm lens with my Nikon N90s film camera.

Samples - This first set of images was taken from the same position. I shot the first image at 24mm. The second was shot at about 18mm and the third was shot at 12mm. With the 1.5x lens factor, my 35mm equivalent field of views were 36mm, 27mm and 18mm.

I am looking forward to trying this lens on other subjects. I will be traveling to the Bahamas in the early spring and will be using it at home in New Jersey during the summer months. Stay tuned for more.
